10/29 - First day home

Throughout the night I been managing to nurse and offer the bottle after ward. By the time I am done pumping, about 1.5 hours have passed so basically about 1.5 hours until I need to feed her again ... ahhh the life. :)

Emily had her first pediatrician appointment @ 10:15, so I just bottle fed breast milk for the 9:30 feeding. Everyone at the doctor's office loved her. Of course she cried for most of the appointment ... the weighing, measuring and prodding. She is already 6 lbs and 4 ozs with her height still at 18.5 inches. Dr O said that she's actually on the the regular (not the preemie) chart for height, weight and head circumference ... so he is going to go a head and just use that curve for her despite the fact that she was born premature.

Her vaccines are all up to date and although we were expecting to continue the synergis one ... it's unfortunate that one shot cost about $1,000.00 and is not covered by most insurance unless your baby falls into a certain risk category. At the hospital Emily fell into this category, but oddly now at the pediatrician she doesn't. Weird huh?

We had to make a pit stop for some baby supplies and ended up at Babies R Us. I quickly ran in while Brad stayed in the car with Emily. We aren't really taking her places just yet ... lol. After Tyler and his getting sick like every month as an infant, we are just a bit paranoid.

I don't know if it is just me, but it seems my milk is less now that Emily is feeding more. Isn't it suppose to be the exact opposite?

Well overall I'd say that this was a very successful first day home. It helped that Tyler was at school ... so we could get into a groove with just Emily and her needs. The next test will be the weekend, when we will now have Tyler to entertain.
