There was nothing unusual about that Thursday. I went to work, had my 28 week appointment with Dr Teagle ... and even took my (17P) progesterone shot. All was fine and dandy as far as I was concerned.
I was upstairs on the computer when it happened. A familiar "leaking" feeling of some liquid. It wasn't much and I was hoping it was not a big deal. But about 5 - 10 minutes later, it was a huge gush and now very obvious that my water broke.
I quickly drove myself to the hospital, since at this time I had no pain or contractions. Brad called our friend to come over to watch Tyler and he met me there.
I would say my water broke sometime between 9:30 and 10:00pm. I was immediately admitted to Good Sam Hospital Labor and Delivery where I awaited my doctor. When she got there they tested to fluid to confirm it was amniotic ... which it was. I was hooked up to the baby heart beat monitor and a contraction monitor. Apparently I was having contractions ... things were looking as if we would deliver that night.
I got hooked up to an IV for some fluids, in hopes it would help slow down the contractions, which it did. I was also given Magnesium, which is suppose to help slow down the contractions even more. The hope with this was for me to get 2 Betamethasone steroid shots (12 mg IM every 24 hours for two doses) to help the baby's lung development. In addition I also got antibiotics to help ward off infection.
After I was all set up, there was nothing to do but wait. It appeared the medications were working. Brad went home and I had a long sleepless night ahead of me.
